Principles and Elements of Design 

Principles: Balance:Involves capturing images within a frame so all parts of the image have equal visual weight.      Pattern:  A sense of visual rhythm and harmony with things such as lines, colors, shapes, or forms that repeat themselves. Rhythm: It is the repetition or alternation of elements, often with defined intervals between them. Contrast: Defined as the separation between the darkest and brightest areas of the image.  Unity:  the relationship among the elements of a visual that helps all the elements function together. Emphasis:  is a principle of art which occurs any time an element of a piece is given dominance by the artist. Movement:is the path the viewer’s eye takes through the artwork, often to a focal area

Elements: Line :Lines are powerful tools that can be used smartly to lead the viewers eyes towards the point of interest in a photograph, and alter the overall feeling and mood of an image. Shape :is the essential element in an image is that it is best defined when the subject is frontlit or backlit. Form :is basically a three-dimensional shape, and is best accentuated by side lighting since it casts soft elegant shadows, and the difference between light and shadows gives a better illustration of the depth of an object and amplifies the sensual understanding of its meaning and message. (Color):is characterized by attributes such as value, hue, and saturation Space :refers to distances or areas around, between or within components of a piece. Texture :is the roughness or smoothness of a surface. Value : refers to the lightness or darkness of a color.

Unit 1: Blog Entry

Goals for Photo 5-6

In your first blog entry, write about what you want to accomplish in Photo 5-6. Include at least one of your best works from Photo 3-4. Also write about the camera you are using and anything new you learned about it. 

What I want to accomplish in Photo 5-6 is to perfect my photoshop skill. I would also like to take better photos so that I might place in the art shows since I haven't placed once.  The photo below is what I think to be one of my best works. It may just be because of how much I enjoy the photo or how much I enjoyed taking it but I find this one to be one of my best. The camera I am using is the Rebel TI 3 Cannon. Something new that I learned about it was when I was in Italy taking pictures. When ever I tried to focus it to the way I wanted it would come out blurry. I figured out that I prefer Manuel focus over Auto Focus.
